The Director, Global Engineering has full responsibility for Process Engineering, development, testing, and implementation of new processes and technologies to meet our organizational and customers’ needs and requirements on a global basis.  This position sets the strategic direction for the Engineering function, ensuring that the needs of the organization are met.  Extensive collaboration with Facilities, Procurement, Customer Solutions, Sales, Human Resources, ChemTrace®, and other departments is required to ensure that Engineering has the resources and capabilities to meet our customer needs, strategic goals, and profitability objectives.  Oversees projects, systems, documentation, and capital expenditures in Engineering.  Ensures that Engineering considers quality, safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements, as well as environmental consequences in its processes and solutions.  Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel for the Engineering department.  Reports directly to the CTO & COO.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)
  • Works within the Quantum Global Technologies’ Strategic Plan and adheres to our Core Values.
  • Is a member of the Senior Leadership Team.  Creates, implements, and executes the Global Engineering strategic plan.
  • Manages global engineering managers, who manage site process engineers to ensure that the company is fully compliant with “The Perfect Qual” protocol, perfect transfer protocols, and compliance with MOC requirements.
  • Ensures that the Global Engineering team become fully trained in the science of part clean engineering, and fully trained in the OEM parts and major tool platforms.
  • Fully knowledgeable of the semiconductor manufacturing micro contamination requirements, ensuring that all QGT engineering staff are expert as well.
  • Ensures that the global process engineering management, and process engineering contribute effectively in the CAPA process, FOI investigation process, and FMEA
  • Has full responsibility for deployment of engineering resources, departmental budget, project management, engineering capital expenditures, process improvement proposals, and process engineering maintenance for all production sites. 
  • Understands, consistently communicates, and works toward always implementing the Perfect Qual. 
  • Ensures that engineering staff have the resources they need to properly support site and project initiatives.
  • Looks for ways to control waste, increase the speed of processes, reduce costs, improve safety, meet quality requirements, and limit environmental impact through engineering controls.  Empowers the engineering team to do the same.
  • Uses innovation, ideas, and creativity to meet engineering objectives while adhering to copy exact and Perfect Qual objectives
  • Collaborates with Sale and Marketing and plays a customer facing role as corporate Engineering representative, ensuring that customer needs are met and that customer requirements are communicated throughout the organization. 
  • Ensures that Engineering initiatives are completed on-time, within budget.  Oversees, supports, drives and promotes Engineering initiatives to maximize efficiency, Lean Flow, WIP reduction, OTD, and WIP Turn reduction at all sites.
  • Oversees engineering initiatives and works with operations to improve process flows, efficiencies, and systems management.  Ensures proper resource allocation.
  • Collaborates and works with Quality, Facilities, EH&S, Operations to achieve corporate quality, safety and environmental, and regulatory goals. 
  • Collaborates with Finance, IT, Human Resources, and all other departments to ensure all resources are in place to accomplish organizational goals.
  • Uses all available systems to pull information and to understand impact of engineering initiatives and processes. 
  • Uses Excel and PowerPoint to create reports and presentations. 
  • 95% of this position will be focused on Engineering activities.  5% will be focused on communications with ELT and senior leadership.
  • Participates in various projects for the Company to improve systems, operations, and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • A bachelor's degree in manufacturing or mechanical, chemical engineering, and/or material sciences, Masters’ degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of fifteen years in manufacturing engineering, product engineering, and/or quality engineering. 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment engineering management and/or 10 years’ experience in OEM Equipment engineering manufacturing space.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing concepts, and other process improvement methods.
  • Full understanding of production, engineering, quality, and safety concerns.
  • Proven successful project management and budgeting experience.
  • Multi-site and international experience.
  • Excellent people development, management, and coaching abilities.  Viewed as a leader and mentor, fostering trust and growth in his/her people.
